The Unitarian Universalist Westside Congregation’s Animal Ministry Mission

Our unending depth of respect and love for all sentient beings begins with our seventh principle: “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence for which we are a part”
We value all animals of this earth, which we love and coexist with.
Each week we share an “Animal Ministry Moment”. This is offered during our Sunday Service. Our mission is to teach about our fellow creatures and share our love for out pets. Outr stories give us the opportunity to laugh together and learn.
We offer a service each year that is “Our Blessings of the Animals” and a memorial for the sacred creatures and pets that we have lost.
Our mission is to increase our awareness and give support for all creatures. Especially our pets. In supporting all species, we help them, and in turn, help ourselves.
Our animal ministry Westside founder is Bram Cast-Hecht. Please feel free free to contact Bram at: braminin@live.com.
This past Sunday we began a month of lighting our Social Justice Candle for Poverty Awareness. This includes the impact of poverty in many areas of life. We all know that pets enhance mental health; they are not merely a luxury or self -indulgent. People experiencing poverty often have difficulty feeding their pets; having to surrender them to be able to feed their families is a horrible choice.
Here is the information about pet food donations that you can make to help with this problem:

Please consider this option as part of your charitable giving. If you are aware of other options, please let me know and I will share them with our community too.
Thank you!
